Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts

This site, created to highlight transparency within the state’s budgeting and expenditures, provided open data in a number of categories and was awarded #1 State Government Transparency Website multiple times in the Texas Public Interest Research Group’s annual publication, Following the Money.

Participation

  • Re-architected the Texas Comptroller’s popular Where the Money Goes site, expanding to include a Where’s the Money Come From? report
  • Re-architected numerous budget and expenditure reports, moving from a text format to an easily scannable graphical format, for better ease of use
  • Worked closely with IT to create the site’s Open Data portal, along with monthly update criteria and procedures
  • Created large section with access to a number of database tools both within the Comptroller’s office and at other state agencies
  • Created rich content area highlighting local government transparency efforts around the state
  • Created additional content on the state budgeting process
  • Assisted with HTML/CSS development
