The SCI FI Channel - Tami Heaton

Production Management

For four years, I was Production Manager of the SCI FI Channel’s official website. I was responsible for managing the site’s design and production work, and I oversaw the site production schedule and resource plan. I created site production processes and coding standards, and when tensions among staff members threatened to tear the team apart, I was called in to create process documentation to smooth out operations between the editorial and production teams.

I worked closely with the channel’s ad sales team to create site advertising specs and custom sponsorship packages, and I was responsible for QA and approval of all rich media campaigns on the site.

I was additionally responsible for managing a variety of on-air and off-air projects for the channel. I did hands-on HTML coding, maintained site features like the site search and schedule functions, and worked closely with the IT department to create a custom CMS for the SCI FI Wire news section of the site.

I handled all QA of site pages prior to launch. When we went through a major server migration effort, I was responsible for writing the site testing plan to ensure that all content was migrated without problems. I also culled hundreds of outdated pages from the site prior to migration.
